(Foggy Bottom, DC) On Monday, the Wall Street Journal claimed that the Biden Administration had offered Nicolás Maduro, self-proclaimed president and usurper-in-chief of Venezuela, amnesty in exchange for ceding power. Fox News, later the same day, reported that the Biden Administration denied the claim in a terse public statement by Vedant Patel, spokesperson for the U.S. State Department. “That is not true.”
Tuesday, the State Department issued a clarifying statement of the administration’s position on negotiations with Maduro. “This is not an offer of amnesty to Maduro in any way, shape or form,” stated Patel. “It is a one-for-one autocrat swap: Trump for Maduro. In addition, the State Department has worked out a deal with the Venezuelan government that will allow all MAGA disciples immediate immigration rights into Venezuela without the need of a passport or visa.”
In support of this arrangement, the Democratic National Committee is partnering with Boeing to provide all Trump cult followers to get free, one-way air travel to Venezuela aboard 737-Max jets.
Maduro wants to know what’s in it for him.
